The Eagles got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

The Eagles clearly saw something nobody else did in Eric Watts, taking him 88 picks ahead of his grade. The board is not convinced.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

However the rest shakes out, Turner at that price is a win they earned.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Dallas Turner · LB-EDGE · rank 14
In the 29th overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
R2.1 · Pick 33 · Ennis Rakestraw Jr. · CB · rank 35
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. at pick No. 33 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R2.7 · Pick 39 · Xavier Legette · WR · rank 38
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Xavier Legette. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R2.21 · Pick 53 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
Edgerrin Cooper at No. 53 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.29 · Pick 61 · Xavier Worthy · WR · rank 55
Good price on Xavier Worthy in the 61st pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R3.1 · Pick 65 · Max Melton · CB · rank 76
Max Melton at pick 65 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.27 · Pick 90 · Maason Smith · DT · rank 111
They reached a country mile for Maason Smith at slot 90, and the board is aghast. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.30 · Pick 93 · Caelen Carson · CB · rank 94
Caelen Carson at No. 93 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R4.1 · Pick 101 · Brenden Rice · WR · rank 96
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 1 with a little surplus value in Brenden Rice. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.8 · Pick 108 · Matt Goncalves · OT · rank 114
Matt Goncalves in the 108th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.13 · Pick 113 · Justin Eboigbe · DL-EDGE · rank 148
A real head-scratcher, Justin Eboigbe in pick No. 113 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R4.20 · Pick 120 · Tykee Smith · S · rank 160
They reached into another round for Tykee Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.29 · Pick 129 · Christian Jones · OT · rank 132
By-the-book stuff, Christian Jones at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
R5.6 · Pick 142 · Eric Watts · DL-EDGE · rank 230
Eric Watts at the 142nd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R5.25 · Pick 161 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 170
They went early on Malik Mustapha in pick 161, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R5.31 · Pick 167 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 181
They paid a round early for Ty'Ron Hopper in Round 5, Pick 31, more than the board wanted. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
