When a board-topper like Max Klare slides to pick No. 108, you do not overthink it, and the Broncos did not. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Burks has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Job largely done: linebacker settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Deion Burks in Round 2, Pick 30 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Max Klare at No. 108 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Darrell Jackson Jr. slipping to slot 111 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Bryce Boettcher at par in the Round 5 slot, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nick Barrett at pick No. 246 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Nice patience on Josh Cuevas, who had no business lasting to the 256th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A tidy little value on Alan Herron in the 257th pick, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
