This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Germie Bernard, the No. 58 name on the board, stolen at Round 3, Pick 15. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The back end got a real overhaul.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Good price on Keith Abney II in the 48th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking Germie Bernard in pick No. 79 is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A running back of that caliber at slot 122 is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No edge and no loss on Jimmy Rolder in the 215th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A need, and now a little less of one.
They took Isaiah Nwokobia at par in pick 231, which is nothing to complain about. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
