Some picks age like wine; Austin Barber at Round 3, Pick 17 will need to, sitting 28 spots clear of his grade.
The Washington Jr. steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The Jaguars indulged a want in Reiger while a need in quarterback stayed open.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
They went early on Romello Height in No. 56, and the value did not follow. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Austin Barber this early at pick 81. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Skyler Bell at the 88th pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Mike Washington Jr. at the 100th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Mason Reiger at edge rusher with quarterback open.
Good price on Beau Stephens in pick No. 164, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Nothing to complain about; Nate Boerkircher went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Aaron Graves at the 203rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and TJ Hall at slot 233 is the proof. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Jalen Huskey in Round 7, Pick 24 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Lander Barton at the Round 7 slot. The roster fit checks out.
