The Jets torched the value chart for Carson Beck, taking him 76 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
Anderson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They punted on safety, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 2 they get a bendy edge with upside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 16th overall pick they get a true top target at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Colton Hood at pick 33 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Carson Beck at No. 44 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Deontae Lawson still on the board at the Round 4 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
DeMonte Capehart at Round 4, Pick 40 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 179, where Ar'maj Reed-Adams graded well above the range. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Aaron Anderson in the 228th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They read the board right and Miles Kitselman was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 26. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
