The Ravens torched the value chart for Wesley Williams, taking him 59 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
On value alone, Key makes the weekend a net positive. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get juice off the edge, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
A reach on Caleb Tiernan in slot 45; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Brenen Thompson at the 80th overall pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. The roster fit checks out.
Billy Schrauth in Round 4, Pick 15 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tim Keenan III. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
The board had Charles Demmings higher than the Round 5 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Keagen Trost in slot 173 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A reach for Matt Gulbin in the 174th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Le'Veon Moss in pick 211 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A quiet steal in the 250th pick: Dane Key for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Wesley Williams. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
