Call it larceny. Connor Lew sat on the board until the 106th pick, and the Texans did not need to be asked twice. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Every board in the league had Iheanachor lower, and that gap is the story.
Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
A real head-scratcher, Max Iheanachor in the 28th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
No drama and no debate, Emmanuel Pregnon went about where he belonged in No. 38. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They took Jonah Coleman at par in pick 59, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Christen Miller slipping to the 69th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They robbed the room for Connor Lew here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Will Lee III in pick No. 141 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
Malik Benson in slot 167 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They read the board right and Robert Spears-Jennings was the payoff at Round 7, Pick 27. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
