The Browns ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
They banked enough surplus on Hall to cover a lot of smaller sins. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Tiernan reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.
DaRon Bland gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Bottom line, with Carnell Tate leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 12th overall pick they get a home-run threat at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Fair-plus on Sonny Styles, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Caleb Tiernan at pick No. 39 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jake Slaughter in the Round 3 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Sam Roush at pick 107 is the proof. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
DeMonte Capehart at Round 5, Pick 6 is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They took Charles Demmings at par in pick No. 149, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value with a capital V on Eric McAlister in No. 206, a genuine coup. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Taking TJ Hall in pick 248 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
