Washington Commanders

Larceny in the 207th overall pick lands the Commanders a B-, Cornelius and all.

The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Ajani Cornelius, the No. 115 name on the board, sitting there at No. 207 like a gift left on the doorstep. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

They are betting Walker proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.2 · Pick 34 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 18
Nice patience on Nick Emmanwori, who had no business lasting to pick 34. A minor itch, scratched.
R2.29 · Pick 61 · Sai'vion Jones · DE-EDGE · rank 143
Sai'vion Jones at the 61st pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · David Walker · LB-EDGE · rank 166
They left a pile of value on the table to take David Walker this early at the Round 3 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R4.3 · Pick 104 · Elijah Arroyo · TE · rank 78
They barely believed it either: Elijah Arroyo still on the board at slot 104. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R5.9 · Pick 148 · Cody Simon · LB · rank 135
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 9: Cody Simon for less than the market said. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R6.29 · Pick 207 · Ajani Cornelius · OT · rank 115
Ajani Cornelius in pick No. 207 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.3 · Pick 221 · Jordan Hancock · S · rank 199
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Jordan Hancock in the 221st overall pick, plain and simple. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.20 · Pick 238 · Woody Marks · RB · rank 185
Steal is underselling it; Woody Marks at No. 238 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
R7.32 · Pick 250 · LaJohntay Wester · WR · rank 225
LaJohntay Wester in Round 7, Pick 32 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
