Thirty-one other rooms let Garret Greenfield slide, and the Packers were the ones holding the card at the 245th pick. Highway robbery.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The cost of the Anderson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

They will answer for taking safety early while quarterback, running back and other spots went begging.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 25
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
A reach for Edgerrin Cooper in the 41st overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Sedrick Van Pran · C · rank 72
They paid up for Sedrick Van Pran at pick 58 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
Jaden Hicks at slot 88 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Renardo Green · S · rank 78
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Renardo Green adds a safety and leaves quarterback, running back and other spots untouched.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 115
Nice patience on Elijah Jones, who had no business lasting to No. 126. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Ty'Ron Hopper · LB · rank 181
Ty'Ron Hopper at Round 5, Pick 33 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Javontae Jean-Baptiste · DE-EDGE · rank 217
Javontae Jean-Baptiste in the 202nd pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 203
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Ryan Flournoy in slot 219. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
Taking Garret Greenfield in No. 245 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Evan Anderson · DL · rank 282
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Evan Anderson. The roster fit checks out.
