There is reaching, and then there is Eric McAlister at the 149th overall pick. The Browns jumped the board by 51 and dared it to prove them wrong.
On value alone, Orange makes the weekend a net positive. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
In the end it comes back to Sonny Styles, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 12 they get a go-to option on the outside. The biggest hole, addressed.
In slot 24 they get a three-down second-level presence, and a steal at that. More want than need.
Value with a capital V on Dillon Thieneman in the 39th pick, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
A slide stopped in the Round 3 slot, with Jake Slaughter worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Max Klare in pick No. 107 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
