There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Carson Beck, 78 picks ahead of schedule.
Stowers at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 11 they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a wrecking ball inside at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Carson Beck well ahead of where he belonged. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Genesis Smith in pick 75, miles early. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
You do not let a tight end like Eli Stowers reach the 87th overall pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Jadarian Price at the 90th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Treydan Stukes at the 94th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 130th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Good price on CJ Daniels in Round 5, Pick 11, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Diego Pavia at No. 227 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid up for Fa'alili Fa'amoe at pick 238 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
