You build a draft on nights like this. Anthony Gould had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 25, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
The Hartman pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 25 they get a load in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter.
Cooper Beebe at Round 2, Pick 9 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
T.J. Tampa in slot 58 lands just on the right side of the ledger. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Dominick Puni at the 88th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Hicks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Circle this one: Tyrone Tracy Jr. at the 169th pick is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sam Hartman at the Round 6 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Jordan Magee at the 219th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Anthony Gould at the 245th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
You do not let a safety like Evan Williams reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
