Somebody took the Eagles to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it. The process wobbled, and the D+ is where it lands.
They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Landing Mitchell that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They went 4 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and interior defensive lineman is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 18 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In pick 26 they get a sticky cover corner. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Adonai Mitchell in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They did well to land Cedric Gray in pick No. 120, just ahead of his grade. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Johnny Wilson. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A tidy little value on Jaheim Bell in the 172nd pick, a step better than break-even. The roster fit checks out.
