The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Jets walked right past. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They are betting Stephens proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The Reese pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 2nd pick they get a true top target, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
A quiet steal in Round 1, Pick 16: Arvell Reese for less than the market said. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Dillon Thieneman at the Round 2 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Brandon Cisse, who had no business lasting to pick 44. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nothing to complain about; Logan Jones went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A real head-scratcher, Beau Stephens in slot 140 is miles ahead of his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Zane Durant in pick No. 179; it is a wash and a sensible one. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Miles Kitselman in the 228th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
The board had Zavion Thomas higher than No. 242, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
