You could see the war room lean forward. Keagen Trost at the 206th pick is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. If Fa'amoe pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They paid sticker price for Carnell Tate in the Round 1 slot, and that is fine. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
In pick No. 24 they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, outstanding value to boot.
Value with a capital V on Peter Woods in slot 39, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Jake Slaughter slipping to pick 70 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Nice patience on Zakee Wheatley, who had no business lasting to the 107th overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board had Oscar Delp higher than No. 146, and the tight end fell to them anyway. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
