This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jordyn Tyson, the No. 21 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 26. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
Fernando Mendoza is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 2 they get the face of the franchise. Exactly the need they had to hit.
In the 16th overall pick they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
They will replay Arvell Reese at pick No. 33 for years; that is how good the value is. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Taking David Bailey in the Round 2 slot is close to grand larceny; an edge rusher that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Kenyon Sadiq in pick 103, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They barely believed it either: Mansoor Delane still on the board at Round 4, Pick 18. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Kayden McDonald at the 128th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 140th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Sonny Styles at slot 179 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Akheem Mesidor in No. 222 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Chase Bisontis at pick 228 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They robbed the room for Jordyn Tyson here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
