Somebody took the Broncos to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Roush. They will need Taylor to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Hit on Jacob Rodriguez and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
Value with a capital V on Jacob Rodriguez in pick No. 62, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jonah Coleman at Round 3, Pick 26 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
The board fumbled Sam Roush all the way to the 111th pick, and they scooped it up. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Aamil Wagner at the Round 5 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Eli Heidenreich. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
A conviction pick on Logan Taylor at pick 256 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Diego Pavia went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
