The Texans bet big and early on Trey Moore, 45 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Job largely done: running back settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 28 they get a moveable chess piece at tight end, and a steal at that.
They liked Blake Miller enough to skip the value, taking him in the 38th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Gennings Dunker at Round 2, Pick 27 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The roster fit checks out.
A top-tier interior defensive lineman at a bargain, Lee Hunter in No. 69, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
You do not let a wide receiver like Skyler Bell reach pick No. 106 and blink. They did not. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Kaytron Allen at the 132nd pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Drew Allar. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Trey Moore in the 141st pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
