You can hear the double-takes from here. The Cowboys took Caden Curry at Round 3, Pick 12, roughly 56 spots before his name belonged. Put together, it is a D.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. The Sarratt steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
In short, the board sent warnings, and they will be hoping it was wrong.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 12 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In No. 21 they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
By-the-book stuff, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at slot 38 squarely in line with his ranking. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Gennings Dunker in the 53rd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A tidy little value on Lee Hunter in pick No. 55, a step better than break-even. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Keyron Crawford well ahead of where he belonged. A minor itch, scratched.

Jake Golday at pick 85 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Treydan Stukes at slot 92 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Elijah Sarratt in No. 109 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ja'Kobi Lane in the 112th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Kaytron Allen in the 113th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They talked themselves into Taylen Green at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
A wild overpay on Dallen Bentley in pick No. 177, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Taking Zxavian Harris in the 180th pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
