The Eagles lost the trade war and it was not close, handing partners the better end again and again.
The Jones pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
Hit on Cooper DeJean and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
By-the-book stuff, T.J. Tampa at the 50th pick squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Adisa Isaac in No. 53 is fair value, right on his grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Junior Colson at the 58th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Theo Johnson at pick No. 120 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
No drama and no debate, Johnny Wilson went about where he belonged in pick 121. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They took Tykee Smith at par in slot 161, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Kamal Hadden in Round 5, Pick 35. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Value with a capital V on Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 172, a genuine coup. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Trente Jones at the Round 6 slot is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
