This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Isaiah Davis, the No. 155 name on the board, stolen at the Round 6 slot. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They are betting Tampa proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
The board had cheaper options than T.J. Tampa at the Round 2 slot, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Adisa Isaac in the 58th overall pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
You do not let a linebacker like Jeremiah Trotter Jr. reach Round 3, Pick 25 and blink. They did not. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Renardo Green in No. 91. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Nothing to complain about; McKinnley Jackson went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They robbed the room for James Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Isaiah Davis at the 202nd pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Steal is underselling it; Trente Jones at the 219th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The roster fit checks out.
Steele Chambers in Round 7, Pick 25 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
They barely believed it either: Tylan Grable still on the board at the 255th overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
