Green Bay Packers

The Packers won the night they stopped Gore Jr. from sliding. Grade: B-.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Packers spent pick No. 91 on Cole Bishop while cornerback, quarterback and other spots sat unaddressed. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. That Gore Jr. pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Jackson Powers-Johnson · C · rank 32
In pick No. 25 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. A real need, handled.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Kris Jenkins · DL-EDGE · rank 50
They paid up for Kris Jenkins at pick 41 when waiting would have done the job. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
Payton Wilson at No. 58 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
They did well to land Jaden Hicks in the 88th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Cole Bishop · S · rank 104
A surprising call. With cornerback, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent Round 3, Pick 28 on Cole Bishop, a safety they were not short of.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Ben Sinnott · TE · rank 129
Ben Sinnott at slot 126 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Walter Rouse · OT · rank 163
Walter Rouse at the 169th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Garret Greenfield · OT · rank 216
A reach for Garret Greenfield in pick No. 202; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
Trevin Wallace at No. 219 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Frank Gore Jr. · RB · rank 227
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Frank Gore Jr. in slot 245, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
Jalen Sundell is a better player than the 255th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
