Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chiefs were there to profit. Bryce Lance, the No. 90 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 109. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Prysock proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get the heartbeat of the defense, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
In the Round 1 slot they get a security blanket over the middle, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Zion Young went about where he belonged in pick 40. A need, and now a little less of one.
Christen Miller at the 74th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Bryce Lance in slot 109, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
J.C. Davis at pick No. 148 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A conviction pick on Kaleb Elarms-Orr at No. 169 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
A premium they did not need to pay, Ephesians Prysock a notch or two before his time. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
