The trade table was where it all came apart. The Eagles shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Wallace has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
In the end, a class the front office will want to grow past quickly.
Pick-by-Pick
By-the-book stuff, Laiatu Latu at the 13th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
T.J. Tampa at the 50th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A straight-up fair deal on Theo Johnson at pick No. 120, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Johnny Wilson in slot 121 is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
They took Tykee Smith at par in Round 5, Pick 25, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Kamal Hadden at No. 171 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A premium they did not need to pay, Trevin Wallace a notch or two before his time. A minor need, but a need all the same.
