The Cedric Gray selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 22 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Booker.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th overall pick they get a potential shutdown corner. Exactly the need they had to hit.
They did well to land Jordan Morgan in No. 41, just ahead of his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Braden Fiske. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They let Austin Booker come to them and pounced at the 88th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Cedric Gray at pick 91 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Ben Sinnott in Round 4, Pick 26 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A premium they did not need to pay, Nathaniel Watson a notch or two before his time. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
A tidy little value on Garret Greenfield in pick 219, a step better than break-even. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A conviction pick on Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 25 that the board grades a round light. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
