The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Magee fell into pick No. 219. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
Reaching for Hartman left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 30 they get protection for the quarterback at fair value.
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in slot 41; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Jaylen Wright in pick No. 58 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jaden Hicks in pick 62 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
A reach on Brandon Coleman in the 93rd pick; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
A wild overpay on Jarrian Jones in the Round 3 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They paid up for Jalyx Hunt at the 116th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They reached a country mile for Sam Hartman at Round 6, Pick 27, and the board is aghast. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Jordan Magee in pick No. 219 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
You do not let an offensive lineman like KT Leveston reach Round 7, Pick 25 and blink. They did not. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nice patience on Tyler Owens, who had no business lasting to the 255th pick. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
