The Packers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jordan Magee fell into slot 245. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They will need Hartman to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, and a steal at that.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Edgerrin Cooper. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A tidy bit of business in slot 91, where Dadrion Taylor-Demerson graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Brandon Coleman at pick No. 128 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Myles Cole at the 169th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Sam Hartman at the 202nd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jase McClellan at pick 219 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jordan Magee in the 245th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Circle this one: Jacob Monk at the Round 7 slot is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
