The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Frank Gore Jr., 25 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Devonshire. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 24 they get a long-term starter on the line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Jaylen Wright in the 56th pick is fair value, right on his grade. It fills a real need, too.
No edge and no loss on Patrick Paul in Round 3, Pick 24; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on James Williams. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They let M.J. Devonshire come to them and pounced at the Round 6 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Darius Muasau at the 233rd overall pick is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Frank Gore Jr. at No. 244 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
