Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jordan Magee got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at the 219th overall pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
Hartman has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at a price that makes it sweeter.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in the 41st pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on T.J. Tampa. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid sticker price for Cole Bishop in slot 88, and that is fine. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Brandon Coleman at pick 126 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They robbed the room for Jalyx Hunt here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They talked themselves into Sam Hartman at No. 202, and the board did not agree. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 44 is the definition of value, full stop. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
A straight-up fair deal on Tyler Owens at Round 7, Pick 25, value and slot in agreement. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Nathan Thomas at pick No. 255 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
