Green Bay Packers

No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Packers reached some 57 spots for Sam Hartman, and value like that does not grow back. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.16 · Pick 16 · JC Latham · OT · rank 15
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 49
Edgerrin Cooper in pick 41 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Cooper Beebe · OG · rank 47
No edge and no loss on Cooper Beebe in pick No. 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R5.12 · Pick 148 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 154
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kitan Oladapo. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 157
A quiet steal in the 169th overall pick: Dylan Laube for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 259
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Sam Hartman. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R6.33 · Pick 208 · Evan Williams · S · rank 214
They took Evan Williams at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Ryan Flournoy · WR · rank 204
Ryan Flournoy in Round 6, Pick 44 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 233
Trevin Wallace at the 245th overall pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
Jalen Sundell slid further than he should have, and pick No. 255 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
