The Packers torched the value chart for Sam Hartman, taking him 51 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
On value alone, Greenfield makes the weekend a net positive. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 18 they get a building block for the line. A clean fit for the roster.
Payton Wilson at No. 41 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
No drama and no debate, Jaden Hicks went about where he belonged in the 58th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
A reach on Christian Mahogany in slot 91; the board had better options right there. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
By-the-book stuff, Jarrian Jones at pick 123 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Good price on Johnny Wilson in the 125th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It fills a real need, too.
A reach for Isaac Guerendo in the 127th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for James Williams in No. 169, and that is fine. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
A big swing on Sam Hartman at Round 6, Pick 27, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 255 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
