The board owed the Patriots one, and it paid up: Blake Fisher, the No. 118 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 180 like a gift left on the doorstep.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not.
The skill positions did well by the weekend.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
A straight-up fair deal on Marvin Harrison Jr. at Round 1, Pick 3, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board fumbled Joe Alt all the way to the 34th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Jayden Daniels in slot 35 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They barely believed it either: Ja'Tavion Sanders still on the board at the 68th pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Blake Fisher reach pick No. 180 and blink. They did not. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Keith Randolph Jr. at No. 231 is money in the bank, a edge rusher taken below his worth. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
