They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Taulia Tagovailoa, 59 picks early at No. 231. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
Carson at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 32 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
A tidy little value on J.J. McCarthy in slot 34, a step better than break-even. It fills a real need, too.
The board had Xavier Worthy higher than No. 64, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Bralen Trice in pick 68 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They reached a country mile for Johnny Wilson at pick No. 103, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Caelen Carson at the 137th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
They reached into another round for Erick All, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Zion Tupuola-Fetui in pick 193 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Taulia Tagovailoa well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
