Somebody took the Dolphins to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Mitchell that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 22 they get a matchup problem out wide, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Value with a capital V on Bo Nix in pick 36, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jordan Morgan at the 40th pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Xavier Legette at No. 54 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Quinyon Mitchell in slot 67, plain and simple. A minor need, but a need all the same.
They read the board right and Marist Liufau was the payoff at the 100th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Cedric Gray in pick No. 159 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Ethan Driskell in the 200th pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
