Thirty-one other rooms let Mohamed Kamara slide, and the Patriots were the ones holding the card at the 180th overall pick. Highway robbery. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. The Rattler pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 3 they get a true top target at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Nice patience on Amarius Mims, who had no business lasting to pick No. 34. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They did well to land Kingsley Suamataia in the 68th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They jumped the gun on Spencer Rattler, taking him earlier than his grade liked. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Michael Pratt in No. 137 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A edge rusher of that caliber at the 180th pick is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Somehow Kitan Oladapo was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 18, and they pounced on premier safety value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They will replay Johnny Dixon at the Round 7 slot for years; that is how good the value is. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
