The rest of the league had time to spare on Zion Logue; the Cowboys did not wait, grabbing him 70 spots ahead at pick 216. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.
The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Latu pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 24 they get a bendy edge with upside at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
They did well to land Xavier Worthy in pick No. 60, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Braelon Allen slipping to slot 114 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Christian Jones well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Johnny Wilson in the 116th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A big swing on Hunter Nourzad at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They went early on Tommy Eichenberg in slot 134, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Nelson Ceaser at the Round 5 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
They talked themselves into Jaylan Ford at Round 5, Pick 38, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Zion Logue in the 216th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
