Washington Commanders

The Commanders kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Barryn Sorrell at slot 250 is 61 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

On value alone, Gordon II makes the weekend a net positive. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.29 · Pick 29 · Nick Emmanwori · S · rank 19
In No. 29 they get a rangy last line of defense, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
R2.29 · Pick 61 · Jordan Burch · DE-EDGE · rank 96
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jordan Burch well ahead of where he belonged. It fills a real need, too.
R3.15 · Pick 79 · Elijah Arroyo · TE · rank 78
Elijah Arroyo at the 79th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R5.9 · Pick 148 · Hollin Pierce · OT · rank 117
Hollin Pierce at pick 148 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.29 · Pick 207 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 170
Ollie Gordon II at pick No. 207 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R7.20 · Pick 238 · Nick Martin · LB · rank 261
They talked themselves into Nick Martin at Round 7, Pick 20, and the board did not agree. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R7.32 · Pick 250 · Barryn Sorrell · LB-EDGE · rank 311
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Barryn Sorrell. A need, and now a little less of one.
