Green Bay Packers

The Packers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Some picks age like wine; Sam Hartman at No. 219 will need to, sitting 40 spots clear of his grade. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. However the rest shakes out, Ulofoshio at that price is a win they earned.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. A fair-value weekend of trading, no edge to be found.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.28 · Pick 28 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 26
In the Round 1 slot they get an anchor for the offensive line. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · T'Vondre Sweat · DT · rank 45
They took T'Vondre Sweat at par in the 41st overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
Payton Wilson at pick No. 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R2.28 · Pick 60 · Max Melton · CB · rank 76
Max Melton at pick 60 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.4 · Pick 140 · Kitan Oladapo · S · rank 154
They liked Kitan Oladapo enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 140. A minor itch, scratched.
R5.8 · Pick 144 · Jalyx Hunt · DE-EDGE · rank 152
Jalyx Hunt in Round 5, Pick 8 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R5.24 · Pick 160 · Malik Mustapha · S · rank 170
A conviction pick on Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Tanor Bortolini · C · rank 188
A real head-scratcher, Tanor Bortolini in Round 5, Pick 33 is miles ahead of his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Kendall Milton · RB · rank 201
Kendall Milton in pick No. 202 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Sam Hartman · QB · rank 259
This one needs a full-page explanation: Sam Hartman in No. 219, miles early. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Edefuan Ulofoshio · LB · rank 236
A slide stopped in slot 245, with Edefuan Ulofoshio worth more than the price. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · C.J. Hanson · OG · rank 263
A premium they did not need to pay, C.J. Hanson a notch or two before his time. It fills a real need, too.
