The Bears did not so much draft Mikail Kamara as overpay for him, 24 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Landing Thomas that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 25 they get a disruptor off the edge, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; A.J. Haulcy went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid up for Jacob Rodriguez at Round 2, Pick 28 when waiting would have done the job. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Treydan Stukes at the 89th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Mikail Kamara at No. 129 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Value with a capital V on Zavion Thomas in the 239th pick, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Nolan Rucci at the 241st overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
