The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Ryan Flournoy, pick No. 244, roughly 40 picks past where he belonged.
The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The cost of the Bortolini reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get protection for the quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Braden Fiske in pick 56 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Roman Wilson in No. 64 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Trey Benson in slot 87 is fair value, right on his grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nothing to complain about; Kamal Hadden went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A conviction pick on Tanor Bortolini at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A tidy little value on Caedan Wallace in the 216th pick, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
By-the-book stuff, Edefuan Ulofoshio at Round 7, Pick 13 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A wide receiver of that caliber at slot 244 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They liked Darius Muasau enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 252. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
