The Commanders went off the board in a big way for Que Robinson, 142 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
The Bryant pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 29 they get a rangy last line of defense, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
They read the board right and Isaiah Bond was the payoff at pick 69. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Value said wait; Smael Mondon Jr. in slot 79 says they were not listening. A minor itch, scratched.
A real head-scratcher, Que Robinson in the 105th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Logan Brown. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nice patience on Luke Lachey, who had no business lasting to the 207th pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Cobee Bryant at the 238th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
The board had cheaper options than Nick Martin at Round 7, Pick 32, and it noticed. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
