Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Deven Eastern at the Round 7 slot is 31 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
The Hecht value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th pick they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece at fair value. Need was not the driver here.
In Round 1, Pick 24 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 70 with a little surplus value in Jonah Coleman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Sam Hecht in the 107th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah World at slot 146, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They did well to land CJ Daniels in No. 149, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Jeremiah Wright at slot 206 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached into another round for Deven Eastern, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
