The 49ers put a flag in the ground for Kaelon Black, 78 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. That Fitzgerald pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 27 they get a mismatch in the passing game, outstanding value to boot.
No edge and no loss on Germie Bernard in the 58th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Parker Brailsford in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Bishop Fitzgerald slipping to pick No. 133 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A minor need, but a need all the same.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Moore in No. 138, miles early. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Kaelon Black at the 139th pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
