There was a run on nobody at that position, and the 49ers started one anyway for Solomon Tuliaupupu, 29 picks ahead of schedule. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
However the rest shakes out, Green at that price is a win they earned. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.
Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 28 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, outstanding value to boot.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Eli Stowers in pick 60. It fills a real need, too.
They did well to land R Mason Thomas in pick No. 92, just ahead of his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Rod Moore at the 128th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
They liked Davison Igbinosun enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 134. A minor itch, scratched.
Nothing to complain about; Monroe Mills went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
You do not let a quarterback like Taylen Green reach Round 5, Pick 29 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They paid up for Daevin Hobbs at pick 174 when waiting would have done the job. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Fernando Carmona at slot 206 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They reached a country mile for Solomon Tuliaupupu at the 241st overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
