The rest of the league will want that one back. Akheem Mesidor tumbling to the 49ers in Round 4, Pick 27 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
Nothing to complain about; Dillon Thieneman went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Sonny Styles in Round 2, Pick 26, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A edge rusher of that caliber at pick No. 127 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Germie Bernard in pick 133 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Connor Lew at the Round 4 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
No drama and no debate, J.C. Davis went about where he belonged in slot 139. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
