Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The 49ers never addressed wide receiver, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
Reaching for Kamara left real value on the table behind him. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Styles.
The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss. They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 29th pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Gennings Dunker at pick 58 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They let Logan Jones come to them and pounced at pick No. 109. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They paid sticker price for Jude Bowry in No. 127, and that is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Joe Royer at slot 138 is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Mikail Kamara in Round 4, Pick 39 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. The roster fit checks out.
