Call it larceny. Ephesians Prysock sat on the board until slot 211, and the 49ers did not need to be asked twice. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. If Kamara pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 29 they get an anchor for the offensive line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing A.J. Haulcy in the Round 2 slot. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Value with a capital V on De'Zhaun Stribling in pick No. 127, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
No drama and no debate, Kaleb Proctor went about where he belonged in slot 129. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Mikail Kamara in No. 133 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They paid sticker price for Dametrious Crownover in the 138th pick, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Eli Raridon at pick 154 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A tidy bit of business in the 210th overall pick, where Eric McAlister graded well above the range. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Ephesians Prysock in pick 211, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Luke Altmyer at No. 250 is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
