Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Browns spent Round 5, Pick 6 on Ephesians Prysock, a name the board had a full 44 spots lower. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. On value alone, Hecht makes the weekend a net positive.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 6th overall pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
In pick 24 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Dillon Thieneman in No. 39. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
You do not let an offensive lineman like Sam Hecht reach the 107th pick and blink. They did not. The roster fit checks out.
A real head-scratcher, Ephesians Prysock in Round 5, Pick 6 is miles ahead of his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Bryce Boettcher at pick No. 149 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A minor itch, scratched.
A quiet steal in pick No. 206: Jeff Caldwell for less than the market said. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Diego Pavia at pick 248 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
