Thirty-one other rooms let Jarrian Jones slide, and the Eagles were the ones holding the card at the 172nd pick. Highway robbery. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Devin Singletary gives the group a proven body among the projects.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Malik Nabers and all.
Pick-by-Pick
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Malik Nabers in Round 1, Pick 23, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Tyler Guyton slipping to the Round 2 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Caelen Carson at the 96th pick for years; that is how good the value is. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A wide receiver of that caliber at No. 97 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Beau Brade in the 103rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Matt Goncalves slid further than he should have, and pick No. 114 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Somehow Dillon Johnson was still sitting there in slot 137, and they pounced on premier running back value. The roster fit checks out.
Cedric Gray at pick 163 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Taking Jarrian Jones in the 172nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jaylen Wright at the 182nd pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Austin Stogner at No. 195, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
They robbed the room for Christian Jones here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
You do not let a cornerback like Myles Jones reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Sam Hartman in pick No. 243 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
